It is now 2012. Supposedly, it is the end of a cycle according to the Mayan calendar. But for us Dine, we are at a point in our history where most of our young ones no longer speak Dine bizaad. One recent article says that "most Native Americans and Alaska Natives over 65 speak their language, only one in 10 people age 5 to 17 do." Our educated Navajos need to find ways to use technology to preserve our Navajo language and culture. Tink'rlabs is a software company located in Phoenix that developed an ipod app that allows toddlers, or anyone who wants to learn Navajo, to learn and practice Navajo words. Good job!
